Company History

Our Story

Every great company starts with a story — and ours begins with a man named Esau Halow.

After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1953 with a degree in business, Esau proudly served his country as a Major in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. His time in the service taught him the values of discipline, leadership, and perseverance — values that would shape the rest of his life and career.

When Esau returned home, he joined his father in the family’s small appliance store. It was there, surrounded by radios, televisions, and the hum of hard work, that his entrepreneurial spirit truly began to take shape.

In 1967, Esau decided to strike out on his own, opening his first store in El Paso, Texas. The shop sold a variety of electronics and offered television repair and service for hotels across West Texas and New Mexico. With his trademark work ethic and friendly personality, Esau built relationships that turned first-time customers into lifelong partners.

Growing a Vision

By the early 1970s, Esau saw opportunity beyond the border. He noticed the growing demand for quality electronics in Mexico and began distributing products across the region. Then, in the late 1970s, he took another bold step — entering the satellite television market, wholesaling equipment into Mexico at a time when the technology was still new and exciting.

His instincts proved right. By the early 1980s, Esau’s company had become one of the largest satellite distributors in the United States. He expanded operations with new offices in Laredo, McAllen, and across Chihuahua and Tamaulipas, Mexico. He even launched his own line of satellite products under the Esaws brand, combining innovation with quality craftsmanship.

Building Partnerships and Trust

The 1980s were a time of incredible growth. Esaws became not only a leading name in satellite distribution but also a trusted supplier of two-way radios, video projectors, and other emerging electronics. Esau’s ability to adapt and embrace new technologies set the company apart.

In the 1990s, the business evolved once again — this time into the service and installation industry. Esaws completed the very first installations for DirecTV (Thomson Consumer Electronics) in El Paso, quickly expanding throughout West Texas, New Mexico, and Central and South Texas. When Dish Network, a new competitor founded by EchoStar, entered the market, they too turned to Esaws for installation services.

As demand continued to grow, Esaws became the trusted installation partner for some of the nation’s biggest retailers — including Service Merchandise, Sears, Circuit City, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Conn’s. Each partnership was built on the same foundation that Esau had established decades earlier: trust, craftsmanship, and care.

A Legacy That Lasts

By the early 2000s, Esaws was taking on even more specialized work — custom installations for luxury homes and commercial spaces. The company worked hand in hand with builders and designers to bring customers’ visions to life, integrating whole-home audio/video systems, security cameras, LED lighting, and the latest smart technologies.

Today, more than 58 years later, Esaws remains true to the values Esau built it on — hard work, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction, helping hundreds of thousands of customers in its existence. From its humble beginnings as a family-run shop to its position as a trusted leader in electronics and technology integration, Esaws continues to thrive because of one simple belief:

Take care of your customers, and they’ll take care of you.
